Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a program of work focused on the assessment and improvement of scientific and ICT systems operating within a highly regulated and sensitive environment. The role involves working across complex technical landscapes, where accuracy, governance, and disciplined information handling are critical to successful outcomes.

In this role, you will engage with a wide range of technical and non‑technical stakeholders to understand how specialised systems and equipment are supported and used, document current‑state business processes, and capture detailed system and support requirements. You will also contribute to the development of formal documentation and reporting to inform senior decision‑making. Success in this role will require strong stakeholder engagement skills, a methodical approach to analysis, and experience operating in environments subject to strict controls, compliance obligations, and defined operational standards.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse business problems and deliver practical, requirements‑based solutions
  • Experience engaging stakeholders across both technical and non‑technical domains
  • Proven experience documenting business processes for ICT and/or scientific or forensic systems
  • Strong capability in capturing functional and technical requirements, including those relating to specialised equipment
  • Familiarity with cyber security principles and frameworks (e.g. ISM, Essential 8)
  • Working knowledge of ITIL service management practices
  • Experience delivering business analysis within highly regulated or security‑sensitive environments
  • Ability to produce clear, structured documentation and reports for senior stakeholders

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
