Benefits Consultant - India Total Rewards

The India Benefits Consultant will report into the India Director Benefits. The role will be responsible for developing best practice employee benefit solutions designed to support our flexible benefits strategy for employees across the India region.
Location: Bangalore, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Noida
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Input:
    • Deep experience of employee benefit program design and execution
    • Partner in designing flexible benefit solutions to support the organization's rewards strategy
    • Effective vendor management experience (including the review of policy design and annual contract renewal)
    • Leading the end-to-end program execution (from design to implementation and on-going review) and measuring success of programs
    • Management and development of all employees facing communications and program tools or systems
    • Drive continued benchmarking to ensure that all programs are market competitive and covered from legal risks standpoint
    • Lead harmonization of program offerings during M&A activity
  • Stakeholder Management (Internal and External):
    • Liaise with key internal and external partners to drive the regional benefit charter along with India Rewards Leadership
    • Partner with vendor partners to ensure service levels are being met, coordinate for program implementation as per timelines, address escalations, etc.
    • Establish relationships with vendors, brokers, consultants and internal resources to ensure that benefit plans are meeting the organization and employee requirements
    • Partner with IT Teams of Organization and Vendor to ensure seamless technology platforms deployment, ongoing changes, testing, etc.
    • Partner with Site team, business volunteers and drive participation for programs
    • Liaise with the ES&P and Legal Teams on having contract aligned with program design requirements
    • Address employee queries and escalations to ensure gaps are addressed in a timely manner
    • Partner with SPOC in other UHG entities to ensure consistency of program delivery
  • Program Management, Reporting and Data Analysis:
    • Build effective project plans to define clear deliverables, timelines and assign ownership to track progress/ completion of projects
    • Track participation and feedback to capture program utilization
    • Participate in surveys for market data and gather details for benchmarking programs. Provide insights on programs based on market data
    • Work with technology partners to ensure automated reporting capabilities and design elements are finalized in consultation with internal stakeholders
    • Report out insights from data analysis highlighting the impact of programs on employee experience and make recommendations on design changes
  • Benchmarking and Compliance:
    • Submit participation data in external surveys and track for reports received from consultants
    • Prepare comparative analysis for UHG vs Market data for benefits policies and programs highlighting positioning of UHG
    • Partner with employment legal to review compliance requirements within each benefit and identify gaps, if any
    • Partner with India Benefits leader in identifying risk areas based on non-compliance, if any and provide recommendations to mitigate non-compliance risks
  • Operational Direction:
    • Oversee the development and delivery of appropriate tools and technology for benefit program solutions
    • Coordinate with global peers to work on global initiatives across UHG
    • Oversee and execute the administrative aspects of program execution
    • Work closely with human capital, payroll, legal, and communications to ensure alignment and compliance across the region, as needed
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:
  • MBA or equivalent in Human Resources or other management streams
  • Overall experience of 8+ years and 5+ years of benefits management experience or experience with analysis and understanding of Total Rewards practices
  • Regional specific benefits experience in trends/costs and modeling outcomes
  • Experience in working with benefits program design, competitive market analysis, cost forecasting
  • Experience of managing benefits harmonization and transition following M&A activity
  • Familiarity with benefits compliance rules regionally
  • Proven solid benefit program vendor management and Project management skills
  • Proven confident working directly with senior business leaders to ensure strong stakeholder management
  • Proven good interpersonal and client facing skills with People Business Partners and Key Stakeholders
  • Proven solid organizational and time management skills, and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven effective verbal, written, and presentation skills and a collaborative team player
  • Proven self-starter and resourceful with demonstrated ability to work effectively in matrixed work environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Former Consulting experience
  • Experience in implementation of flexible benefit solutions
