The Automation Test Lead will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring high quality test automation frameworks and scripts across our software products. This role requires experience with relevant tooling and a hands-on approach to developing automation frameworks and scripts. While a leadership position, active participation in proof-of-concepts and the creation of frameworks and scripts is expected. You will be reporting to the Senior Test Manager to define and implement a robust test automation strategy for E2E Stores

This role will be accountable for driving the strategy, design, and execution of automation initiatives across the program.  The Automation Lead ensures that automation solutions align with business objectives, improve productivity, and contribute to cost savings. Additionally, they are responsible for overseeing the performance and scalability of automation systems, mentoring and developing the automation team, and ensuring that automation projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with system integrator (SI) partners, business teams, program managers, and functional analysts to ensure the success of the testing phase, while ensuring all testing efforts adhere to governance processes and meet quality standards.

Job Description

  • Strategic Automation Planning and Implementation

    • Spearhead the creation, development, and implementation of automation solutions and frameworks that optimize business processes and enhance efficiency.

    • Work hand-in-hand with business, engineering and broader QA teams to fully grasp their needs and translate those needs into effective technical automation solutions.

    • Define and establish best practices for automation development, testing, and implementation to ensure quality, consistency, and scalability.

  • Project Management and Execution

    • Oversee the management and upkeep of automation tools, frameworks, and infrastructure, ensuring high reliability and scalability.

    • Lead and prioritize multiple automation projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results.

    • Implement governance processes to ensure all automation projects adhere to internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Team Leadership and Development

    • Lead and mentor a team of automation engineers, including vendor or partner resources, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

    • Promote continuous improvement and encourage the adoption of best practices within the team, including vendor or partner resources.

  • Stakeholder and Vendor Collaboration

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams (e.g., IT, operations, and business units) to ensure seamless collaboration on automation initiatives.

    • Manage external vendor relationships for the acquisition, integration, and support of automation tools and technologies

  • Risk Management & Quality Assurance:

    • Monitor testing progress, identifying any risks, blockers, or issues, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve them.

    • Ensure that defects are tracked and resolved according to agreed-upon timelines, and report on defect trends to highlight areas of concern.

Qualifications

Essential 

  • 5 years of experience in a test automation role with at least 3+ years in a leadership capacity., 

  • Experience working with third-party vendors and partner teams in a testing leadership role, overseeing their deliverables and ensuring alignment with program objectives.

  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Tricentis TOSCA).

  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), and modern testing practices..

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.

Desirable 

  • Experience in retail or e-commerce.

  • Industry certifications in automation tools or methodologies

  • Experience with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

  • Familiarity with cloud automation platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

  • Knowledge of AI/ML integration into automation processes for intelligent automation solutions.
