Position Purpose

 

Reporting into the Senior HRBP, the HR/ER specialist is a key member of the HR team, which supports a culturally diverse workforce.

This role provides generalist ER support across the Australian business with a focus on supporting the business and Field HRBPs with complex Employee Relations and implementing HR projects and processes as development opportunity.

The purpose of this role is to enable the effective implementation of Employee relations strategy alongside Human Resources priorities and projects. The role applies strong business knowledge to ensure the successful implementation of initiatives that drive organizational change and continuously improve business performance.

 

This role would suit a HR generalist or Business Partner who has had experience handling ER/HR matters independently, has a keen interest in HR projects, and is now looking to take their next step in their career to further develop and embed their skills.

Some of the duties you will be responsible for include but are not limited to:

 

Employee Relations (60% focus time):

  • Provide counsel and direction to employees and managers in order to address employment related matters.

  • Staying current on employment legislation and ensuring compliance to legislation.

  • Conduct investigations as required for potential serious conduct breaches. Liaising with external employment lawyers for support with any complex cases.

  • Interpret and administer relevant company policies for all employees and managers. Monitoring the application of policies and compliance throughout their area of responsibility.

  • Award management and interpretation, aiding fellow HR team, payroll and mangers on Award compliance and the Fair work Act.

  • Analyze ER trends and provide insights to inform proactive people strategies.

 

HR Projects:

Initially, you'll contribute to projects in a supportive capacity, with clear pathways to ownership as you grow:

  • Providing expert HR input into the design and implementation of ad hoc HR initiatives and projects mainly impacting Sales Organization design and growth (retention, recruitment, development, organizational structure, compensation ..)

  • Support Organizational Change initiatives that enhance business performance and Employee experience

  • Partner with internal stakeholders (HR Operations, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, HR Director) on HR projects, change initiatives, and process improvements

 

Work Force planning and Retention initiatives:

  • Coordinate retention initiatives such as quarterly retention assessments and retention bonuses. Identify key retention issues, make recommendations for new retention initiatives and implement as required.

  • Work with the Head of HRBPs on introducing a more effective career path and planning tools for front line team members.

  • Aid the Head of HRBPs with WFP activities that span a wide network of over 450 stores across Australia.

 

Metrics and Reporting

  • Contribute to HR metrics, reporting, and insights to support decision-making.

 

About you

  • 3+ years HR Generalist knowledge and experience

  • Strong, hands-on experience in Australian Employee Relations

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Employment Law, or a related discipline

  • Confident decisionmaker with the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters independently

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the business

  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
