This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an electronics, electrical, biomedical or broader engineering background who enjoys problem solving, working with complex technology and developing their technical capability in a highly specialised field.

More specifically, you will:

  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders and associated documentation.
  • Support inventory and stock management for engineering parts and tools.
  • Work closely with Engineers, Radiation Therapists, Physicists, clinical teams and equipment suppliers.
  • Participate in engineering projects and initiatives supporting existing and future radiotherapy services.
  • Participate in an on-call and after-hours roster as required.

The role includes structured on-the-job training in Linear Accelerator maintenance, followed by formal vendor training, giving you the opportunity to develop highly specialised technical skills within radiotherapy engineering.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, or relevant experience, in electronics, electrical or biomedical engineering; candidates from mechanical, mechatronics, computer science or other relevant engineering disciplines will also be considered.
  • Strong technical aptitude with an interest in fault finding, diagnostics and complex equipment.
  • The ability to remain calm and work effectively when responding to equipment issues and competing priorities.
  • Good organisation and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and clinical teams.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Eligibility to obtain the relevant VIC/NSW Radiation Use Licence and VIC Restricted Electrical Licence.

Benefits of joining our team:

  • Specialist training and development in Linear Accelerator maintenance, including on-the-job and formal vendor training.
  • Work with advanced radiotherapy technology including Varian and Elekta Linear Accelerators.
  • Develop a highly specialised engineering career within cancer care.
  • Work alongside experienced Engineers, Physicists, Radiation Therapists and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
