About the role:
Join a brand-new pro-code AI development team at one of the largest DIY retail organizations. We’re looking for talented engineers who are passionate about building enterprise-scale AI solutions that make a real difference.
Your days will be varied and engaging. You might start by pair programming on a new agentic workflow, then join a discussion with business analysts about requirements for a customer service AI assistant. After lunch, you could be integrating our Power Platform solution with Salesforce, followed by a code review with the team. You’ll wrap up by experimenting with the latest features in Azure OpenAI and sharing your findings with the team.
What’s involved:
- Develop AI solutions using Microsoft Azure and Power Platform, as well as integrations into global SaaS platforms
- Create APIs, microservices, and agentic AI workflows
- Optimise and integrate LLMs, RAG patterns, and intelligent automation
- Work with emerging protocols such as MCP, A2A, AP2
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready solutions
- Contribute to establishing best practices and coding standards
- Ensure thought leadership and continued understanding of emerging AI-related technologies, ensuring we remain competitive in our technology solutions offer
- Transform business challenges and strategic intent into innovative AI-powered solutions
- Support technical governance, architectural reviews, and proactive management of technical debt
- Champion a culture of experimentation, knowledge sharing, and pragmatic engineering
Who we’re looking for:
You are a technical strategist and hands-on leader with the confidence to drive large-scale transformation. You thrive in ambiguity and enjoy solving deep technical challenges that unlock business value. You communicate with impact, whether you’re engaging an engineering squad, a senior executive, or a cross-functional working group.
You demonstrate:
- Depth in software and platform engineering, with the ability to shape system architecture, platform strategy, and delivery at scale
- Strong hands-on experience across core programming languages (e.g., Python, C#, or Java) and frameworks
- Experience with LLM’s, Generative AI and/or Agentic systems
- Understanding of emerging AI related protocols (eg MCP, AP2, A2A)
- Knowledge of RAG patterns, prompt engineering, and AI safety
- Expertise across Microsoft Azure, Azure AI, power platform and enterprise integration
- A strong grasp of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps, and the ability to elevate engineering discipline in others
- A passion for learning, with an interest in emerging technologies such as automation platforms, AI/GenAI, orchestration tools, and enterprise data systems
You’ll need:
- 4+ years in software engineering with 2+ years in AI/ML development
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure (Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, Functions
- Strong Python and C#/.NET programming skills
- Hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Practical experience with LLMs, generative AI, and prompt engineering
- Knowledge of AI frameworks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar)
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
