About the Role

We’re looking for an Assistant Manager to help manage the financial and operational tasks for AIG’s US-based General Insurance businesses. You’ll be involved in overseeing financial reporting, treasury, capital activities, and making sure everything is done accurately and on time.

What you'll do

  • Assist and help lead the team in the quarterly and annual accounting close processes, making sure financial records are accurate and follow all US GAAP rules and regulations.

  • Check and review financial results, balance sheets, and key accounting estimates (e.g., loss contingency, valuation provisions)

  • Help create financial statements for our insurance subsidiaries.

  • Provide support to AIG’s Corporate Controllership during peak periods, including preparation of financial reports (like the 10-Q/10-K) for our General Insurance North America team.

  • Lead or contribute to significant transactions, acquisitions, re-segmentations, capital activities, and other ad hoc projects.

  • Providing analytics on General Insurance North America as well as on a standalone basis

  • Help review and post journal entries.

  • Drive initiatives to strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and enhance the use of technology and automation within Finance as part of AIG’s broader transformation efforts.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience, with a background in controllership and/or financial reporting.

  • Experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry preferred. Candidates with public accounting or financial services experience with a background in accounting, financial reporting/analysis also considered.

  • Skills: Experience with US GAAP.

  • Problem Solver: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment, and looking for ways to improve processes.

  • Communication: Able to clearly explain financial information to different teams and leaders.

  • Detail-Oriented: Accuracy is key, but also the ability to understand the big picture and work well with other teams.

  • Leadership: Experience driving improvements and ensuring projects run smoothly.

  • Resiliency: Able to stay focused and work through challenges.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or CPA preferred.
