Team: Account Management

Location:Melbourne

Employment type: Permanent

We are a team. We are accountable. We partner with our clients to deliver strategic, creative we are proud of.

We learn together, we create together, we win together.

And most importantly, we have fun together.

About the role:

We’re looking for an Account Director to manage various projects, spanning brand through to digital, all connecting back to solving business challenges. This pivotal role will see you get to know your clients’ business inside out and be seen as a trusted advisor, leading operational aspects.

A significant part of this will involve working closely with our key client, Mondelēz International, one of the world's largest snack companies, working across their iconic brands such as Cadbury, Oreo, and The Natural Confectionery Company.

We are looking for someone who can partner closely with our strategic and creative leads and collaborate on how to solve briefs and business challenges. We are looking for someone ambitious to get stuck in and help us continue to unlock opportunities for growth with clients.

You will also be responsible for helping to manage and mentor other team members, lifting the team around them, supporting through workloads, representing the account back to the agency, and championing the great work that is being built.

What you'll do:

  • You'll be responsible for leading integrated campaigns across digital, ATL, and social, driving brand strategy and positioning, managing budgets and P&L, and fostering deep client relationships at a senior level.
  • This role offers significant scope for both strategic thinking and creative influence. You'll be working together with our Senior Strategist and Creative Director from brief to execution, championing creative ideas.
  • Build an open, honest, and trusting relationship with the client, the account management team, the creative department, and all other agency partners.
  • Manage the client’s expectations by ensuring they are always kept in the loop in terms of work in progress, recognising issues early and pre-empting them.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the organisational structure, culture, and politics of the client’s business.
  • Show ability to debate and negotiate constructively with clients to successfully advocate for the agency’s recommendations or point of view.
  • Make major strategic and creative presentations to the client, demonstrating effective influence/persuasion skills through proven success at selling creative ideas.
  • Able to lead a mixed-discipline agency team in developing and delivering the highest standard of creative.
  • Support a wider team and champion their development, ensuring they are getting regular access, support and setting the best example.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience working as an Account Director within a creative agency.
  • Be a great listener, then able to move proactively and quickly.
  • Experience leading clients, not just reacting to briefs, anticipating their needs, and finding solutions.
  • Have developed first-class creative solutions and campaigns, preferably with digital credentials.
  • Strong strategic experience, i.e., writing briefs, responding to queries, and engaging with confidence during high-level client conversations.
  • Seen as a Client’s business partner: proven track record of managing and developing client relationships at the most senior level.
  • Ability to build strong agency inter-departmental relationships.
  • Experience with some team management.
  • Sound financial management skills.
  • Demonstrate resilience, confidence, and tenacity.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
