About our Engineering Team

We rely on our Jetstar Engineering Team to deliver our superior safety standards, up to the second. They’re the trouble-shooters, glitch-fixers and tech-experts who make sure we take to the sky safely.  Solving problems. Trying new things. Getting hands-on.  Fixing and double checking. It’s all part of the day job as a Jetstar Engineer – whether you’re on the frontline as a Maintenance Engineer or in our Engineering Corporate & Support Team ensuring that we land deadlines, keep projects on track and work as a team to help us transform our fleet for the better.  

Your Opportunity

As part of our commitment to growing our pipeline of engineering talent – we’re excited to launch our new Summer Engineering Internship Program. This program is not just about shadowing — you’ll have the opportunity to work on a real project that has a genuine impact on our engineering operation, and in turn our customer’s experience. Over 13 intensive weeks, you’ll be embedded in a complex project of your choice.  You’ll be part of a collaborative team, solving problems, learning new skills, and gaining hands-on experience.

Key Dates 

Our Summer Internship Program takes place from 24 November 2025 to 27 February 2026, and during this period you’ll need to be available for full time employment. However, this period does include unpaid leave during our Christmas shutdown period from Wednesday 24 December 2025 and too Monday 5 January 2026.

Ready for your next adventure? 

We’re looking for someone who is: 

  • In your penultimate year of your university degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical/Automotive/Mechatronics Engineering
  • Studying a double degree?  Let us know, as this could give you a significant advantage in your application;
  • Resilient and flexible mindset such that you can take advantage of all that is on offer throughout the program;
  • Curious, motivated to learn and get involved, with a willingness to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • A strong trouble shooter and problem solver – confident to challenge how we do things; and
  • A permanent Resident or Australian/NZ citizen at time of application.
