Australian sports technology company Catapult Sports has acquired IMPECT GmbH, a German football intelligence platform, in a deal valued at $139 million AUD, or approximately $91 million USD.

As reported by Australian Leisure Management, the acquisition is expected to bolster Catapult’s product offerings by integrating IMPECT’s football data tools into its platform, enhancing its scouting and analytics capabilities and helping to build what ALM called an “integrated intelligence ecosystem.” This ecosystem will merge performance tracking, video analysis and tactical data, in alignment with the professional football industry’s shift toward data-driven decision making.

IMPECT is best known for its “Packing” metric, which evaluates how effectively players bypass opponents through passing and positioning. Its platform currently supports analysis across 150 leagues and 40,000 matches each year.

To finance the acquisition, ALM noted Catapult raised $150 million AUD through a combination of a $130 million institutional placement and a $20 million share purchase plan.

This deal follows Catapult’s earlier acquisition of U.S.-based Perch in June.
