Description

Matrix IFS is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager to lead the end-to-end implementation of an AML surveillance system, which includes the detection engine and case management solution. These roles involve cross-functional coordination with compliance, technology, operations, and vendor teams to ensure timely aneffective deployment of the solution, so it is aligned with regulatory expectations and internal risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Execution:
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables for solution implementation.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between compliance, IT, data governance, operations, and external vendors.
  • Facilitate regular meetings to track progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Escalate critical issues to senior management with recommended solutions.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Alignment:
  • Ensure the solution meets regulatory requirements (e.g., BSA/AML, OFAC, FATF).
  • Coordinate with compliance teams to validate surveillance rules and scenarios.
  • Testing & Validation:
  • Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT), data validation, and system tuning.
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trails are maintained.
  • Reporting & Communication:
  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Prepare project documentation, dashboards, and post-implementation reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in financial services or compliance technology.
  • Strong understanding of AML regulations and surveillance, as well as other technology infrastructure systems (e.g., SymphonyAI, SaaS (Cloud Managed Services, Support & Maintenance and SLA’s).
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification is a plus.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
