SailPoint’s Legal team is tasked with building, protecting and expanding SailPoint's competitive advantage and customer experience. We intelligently manage risk, shaping strategy to drive better business decisions for our internal and external environment. We are seeking a Product Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. The Product Counsel will support the legal team in providing comprehensive legal guidance on projects relating to the development, marketing, and deployment of our software products. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of legal issues in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. The Product Counsel will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, cybersecurity, engineering, and marketing to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and to help manage legal risk across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

      Provide day-to-day legal advice and counsel to product teams on issues related to product development, including IP, privacy, data protection, open-source software, and regulatory compliance. Identify potential legal risks in product offerings, marketing strategies, and collateral and collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate these risks.

      Pitch in to help on miscellaneous projects as they arise, which may include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of technology-related agreements, including partnership agreements, product-specific terms & conditions, and advising on vendor terms & conditions as a technology SME.

      Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, particularly as it relates to data and IP protection.

      Stay up-to-date on relevant legal and regulatory developments that may impact the company’s products and provide training to internal teams as needed.

      Maintain accurate and organized documentation of legal advice, contracts, and compliance efforts.

      Identify opportunities to improve legal processes and efficiency, and collaborate across the business to operationalize new processes.


What you'll bring:

      A minimum of 4 years of substantive legal experience with a focus on technology and product issues.

      Demonstrated experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, especially those related to software and technology partnerships.

      A strong understanding of and interest in learning about emerging technologies like AI.

      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and navigate complex cross-functional team dynamics.

      A collaborative and proactive approach, with a passion for problem-solving and a desire to be a strategic partner to the business.

      A deep understanding of the cybersecurity and identity governance industry, its unique legal challenges, and the global regulatory landscape.

      The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus points if you have:

      Experience working with AI-powered products and services.

      Experience working with customers in regulated verticals such as financial services or healthcare.

      A coding background or a strong understanding of technical concepts.

      Experience navigating legal and regulatory complexities in multiple global markets.

      Expertise in adjacent legal areas such as intellectual property, regulatory compliance, commercial contracting, or privacy.

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):

$150,700 - $215,300 - $279,900

Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
