We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Business Development Executive to lead the Telesat Lightspeed business in Australia with Enterprise, Government, and Defence customers. This is an exciting opportunity to define and execute the company’s business development strategy in Australia.
The role includes developing strategic partnerships with local Australian companies that enable government adoption of Telesat Lightspeed solutions, aligned with the country’s defence, space, and digital infrastructure strategies.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan for Telesat Lightspeed services and solutions in Australia, working closely with internal stakeholders.
- Identify the policy, budgetary, and strategic context for opportunities with Australian Enterprise, Government, and Defence customers.
- Evangelize Telesat Lightspeed in the country; create interest at the decision-making level (C-suite, technology/planning heads); and influence the long-term network strategy and connectivity requirements of prospects.
- Build sales and distribution channel partnerships for Telesat Lightspeed in Australia. Establish strategic partnerships with Government and Defence primes, integrators, and technology partners to support sovereign defence and national security objectives.
- Lead proposal development and negotiation efforts for Government RFPs, RFIs, and tenders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, legal, etc.) to develop customized solutions and resolve customer issues.
- Use CRM tools to manage customer relationships, track opportunities, and monitor pipeline progression.
- Provide periodic business reports and market insights to senior management on customer activities, policy trends, and strategic developments.
Education and Experience required:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in business development, sales, or related roles, with a strong focus on the Australian Government and Defence sectors.
- Experience in satellite communications, aerospace, telecommunications, or defence technology is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian Government and Defence procurement processes, policy frameworks, and stakeholder landscapes.
- Comfortable operating at a senior (C-suite) level.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute in dynamic, VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar field highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel within Australia and occasionally across the APAC region.
